| View all reviews for Engineering in US | | Discuss Alfred State College | Founded in 1908 as an agricultural college, Alfred State College is a unique educational institution. The college offers a complete spectrum of technical education spanning from the vocational technologies in auto mechanics, auto body repair, diesel mechanics, construction building trades, computer-aided design and drafting, microcomputer repair, and food service through the four-year bachelor degree program in mechanical, electrical, Electro-mechanical, and surveying engineering technology; and including two-year associate degree offerings in engineering technology, allied health (nursing, medical laboratory technician, etc.) agriculture, horticulture, business, liberal studies, and computer science.
Alfred State College includes two campuses-one located in the village of Alfred, and the second located approximately 12 miles from Alfred in the village of Wellsville. Both campuses feature a high degree of wireless internet access. In fact, Intel ranked Alfred State 21st in the Nation’s Top 50 Wireless Campuses.
The 150-acre Alfred campus includes students studying in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences as well as the School of Management and Engineering Technology. The campus is centered on an “academic core” of buildings which house classrooms, labs, faculty offices, and student services. Surrounding the academic structures are 13 residence halls and an activities center.
The School of Applied Technology consists of more than 20 buildings on a 21-acre campus in Wellsville. Emphasizing the development of skills pertinent to a specific field, the School of Applied Technology offers the associate degree in occupational studies (AOS) as well as certificate programs. Students live on the Alfred campus and free transportation is provided to Wellsville each day.
In addition to the two campuses, the College also includes an 800-acre college farm, a horticulture center, and a motorsports facility.
