Audi Q5
Autor Reviews | 17.02.2009 | Category Audi Cars
The Audi Q5 is a compact crossover SUV which was released by German automaker Audi for the 2009 model year. It is built using the new Audi MLP platform (Modular Longitudinal Platform) which debuted in the 2007 Audi A5 coupé. The Q5 is be the second Audi model in the “Q” range, after the full-size Q7. The Q5 shots above the future Q3, which will be based on the Volkswagen Tiguan.
The Audi Q5 is an allrounder with the capability of carrying the whole family and luggage safely and comfortably. A sensor “tells” the ESP if a roof rack has been mounted, causing the Audi Q5’s center of gravity to be shifted higher in keeping with the roof load of up to 100 kilograms (220.46 pounds). If a roof rack is present, the ESP engages earlier in the handling limit. Without a roof load, the driver is free to tap the full dynamic potential of the Audi Q5.
The Audi Q5 is capable of towing up to 2.0 tons; the standard hill descent control system makes it safe to navigate down steep inclines by regulating the preselected speed when driving at under 30 km/h (18.64 mph). The Q5 is also fitted with an advanced Trailer Stability Program designed to combat any unwanted snaking when towing a large trailer or caravan.
Every new Audi makes its dynamic nature visually apparent at first glance. The Audi Q5, too, has the sportiest proportions in its vehicle segment: it is 4.63 meters (15.19 ft) long and 1.88 meters (6.17 ft) wide, but only 1.65 meters (5.41 ft) high. Its body design comes across as powerful, athletic and emotionally charged. The new Q5 restates the Audi brand’s claim to lead the way in automotive design.
The Q5’s forward structure is meticulously shaped – as on every Audi, it is dominated by the large single-frame radiator grill. The design of its struts provides vertical accentuation, and its V-shaped contour continues on the front lid. On the four-cylinder versions the grill is in Stone Gray, and on the 3.0 TDI it is painted in gleaming Black. With their slightly angular cut, the headlamps lend the Audi Q5’s face an air of resolve.
Feeling at ease straightaway is a typical response whenever you climb into a new Audi. The Q5 is no exception; its developers have created a light, luxurious and spacious interior.
In the Audi Q5, the driver’s seat is one of the keys to that sense of well-being. It is amply dimensioned, so that drivers of all heights and builds will feel instantly at ease on it. The other seats are height-adjustable as standard, and their head restraints may be moved well up. A memory function that remembers the preferred seat and exterior mirror positions is also available. The heating system heats the seat bases and backs, and also the sides on leather and sport seats. The outer rear seats can also be supplied with heating.
Audi Q7
Autor Reviews | 15.02.2009 | Category Audi Cars
The Q7 is versatile SUV presented by Audi. It has 4.2L FSI V6 Petrol engine. The designe is also very aggressive as it looks brutal. The riding comfort and the ride control are another superb features of Audi Q7. In its name Q7, the “Q” denotes a new family of vehicles for Audi, and the designation “7″ marks its placement between the A6 and A8 in Audi’s model range.
The Q7 utilizes a modified version of the Volkswagen Group 7L platform, the 4L. Based on the Audi Pikes Peak quattro concept car, the Q7 is designed more for on-road use, and was not meant for serious off-road use where a transfer case is needed. In an off road test through the Australian outback it fared well for a “soft roader” but in a test published in The Sunday Times it was described as “an absolutely useless off-roader”. Although it lacks a low-range transfer case, it has quattro permanent four wheel drive system with a central differential lock, and an adjustable-height air suspension which helps in off road situations.
Audi’s 350 PS (345 hp/257 kW), 440 N·m (325 lb·ft) 4163 cc V8 and 280 PS (276 hp/206 kW), 360 N·m (266 lb·ft) V6 3596 cc petrol engines, both with FSI technology, are offered. Interestingly, Q7 using either engine has the same 0 – 100 km/h performance. Two diesel options are available; a 240 PS (237 hp/177 kW) 3.0L V6 and in mid-2007 the 4.2 litre 331 PS (326 hp/243 kW) diesel with 760 N·m (561 lb·ft) torque known from the Audi A8 was introduced. Audi is reportedly going to introduce a hybrid version of the Q7 in 2008
The Audi Q7 4.2 FSI and the Audi Q7 3.0 TDI are very high powered and has a turnout of 350bhp and 233 bhp respectively. The other important aspect is that of automatic transmission, even this is available in this car. The concept of optional air suspension is an added benefit provided in the Audi Q7 model. This makes driving the Audi Q7 a sheer pleasure. The Audi Q7 is the first Sports Utility Vehicle of Audi and is highly effective in hilly or mountainous regions.
The Audi Q7 has always maintained a very high level of safety parameters. The airbag system along with the driver assistance systems etc are the safety parameters.
The interior and the exterior design of the Audi Q7 are highly fashionable and stylish with a sporty look as well. There is a very high of sophistication attached with the Audi Q7. The tailgate of the car is very fashionable as well. Overall the entire structure of the car is highly impressive. The interior of the car is extremely spacious and is an added advantage of the Audi Q7.
The Audi Q7 also has SUV contrasting bumpers, dynamic headlights etc. The car is also available in the sunroof version as well. The roof line of the car is very similar in fashion to the Coupe category of cars. The Audi Q7 has an excellent seating arrangement wherein a very high level of customization is possible. The console of the car is given a load of importance as well. The load capacity of the car can be maximized by folding the seats of the rear seats.
Audi A3
Autor Reviews | 15.02.2009 | Category Audi Cars
The Audi A3 is a practical, compact hatchback, but it feels upscale, like a scaled down A4. Sales of the A3 sales are modest here in the U.S., but Audi has sold 1.5 million A3s worldwide. It’s earned accolades for its high levels of technology and sporty driving dynamics.
The A3 2.0T is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder driving the front wheels, while the A3 3.2 Quattro carries a 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine that drives all four wheels.
The A3 is an example of the exquisite sensibilities in design and use of materials that distinguishes the contemporary Audi. It will take more than just high fuel prices for U.S. buyers to look for their sporty utility in smaller vehicles, but we like the A3 for its combination of open-road dynamism, long-haul friendliness, around-town usefulness and fuel economy.
Inside the car, too, the designers fine-tuned the atmosphere of sporty elegance. Aluminum-look elements on the air vents, light switches and center console accentuate the premium character of the Audi A3. The switches and controls beneath the audio system have been given a new, modern look. The instruments have black dials and red needles to reinforce the impression of precision and advanced technology, and a shift indicator displays the recommended gear in any given circumstances in the driver information system.
The A3’s trunk is the roomiest in its class, at 370 to 1,100 liters (13.06 to 38.83 cubic ft.) on the five-door A3. On quattro versions, the trunk floor is a few centimeters higher, to accommodate the special rear axle. Audi can also supply the options of a panoramic sunroof for the versatile five-door A3.
The range of transmissions has been extended and become even more appealing. The 2.0 TFSI engine is supplied as standard with six-speed manual transmission, and the 3.2 is available exclusively with the S tronic dual-clutch transmission, now also available for all engine versions. The high-tech S tronic changes gears with extreme speed and smoothness. The driver can set it to operate in a fully automatic mode or change gears manually – either at the selector lever or with the standard shift paddles on the leather sport steering wheel.
The S tronic on the six-cylinder engine and the 2.0 TFSI has six speeds. Its clutches are dry-running – an innovative approach. This means that they do not need a separate oil supply, further adding to their already impressive efficiency.
New for the five-door A3 is the 2.0 TFSI quattro, available exclusively with S tronic transmission. In its latest technical form, the central hydraulic multi-plate clutch responds even faster when the engine’s power needs to be redistributed between the front and rear wheels. This increases stability, traction and driving pleasure for the driver.
The standard-fit dynamic suspension, too, provides safety, dynamic handling and comfort all rolled into one. The captivating precision with which the five-door A3 handles and its well-balanced character owe a great deal to elaborate concepts such as the four-link rear suspension and the efficient electromechanical power steering. There is optional sport suspension that supports the body 15 millimeters (0.59 in) lower.
Audi A8
Autor Reviews | 14.02.2009 | Category Audi Cars
The flagship Audi A8 is a full-size luxury sedan meant to appeal to wealthy consumers looking for maximum luxury and space. Although competing models from the premium German and Japanese marques may sell in greater numbers, the A8 does possess a distinct advantage because of its aluminum frame and body panels. Significantly lighter than a traditional steel frame, the Audi Space Frame (ASF), as it’s called, helps offset the bulk of the car’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system; the A8’s competitors are primarily rear-wheel drive.
![]()
The current A8 offers a near-perfect blend of luxury, performance, amenities and style, and is one of our favorite full-size luxury sedans. Three trims are available: A8, the long-wheelbase A8 L and the A8 L W12. The A8 and A8 L are powered by a 4.2-liter, 350-horsepower V8, while the A8 L W12 offers a 6.0-liter engine good for 450 horses. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift control. Regardless of which engine you choose, you’ll be impressed by the big sedan’s ride and handling characteristics. The Audi A8’s driver-adjustable air suspension provides a comfortable ride without excessive float over bumps, and if you take the car around a few corners, it proves surprisingly agile with nicely weighted steering. All trims boast generous standard features lists, including amenities like a navigation system and heated front and rear seats.
Rear-seat room is adequate in the regular-wheelbase model, while the A8 L model provides more than enough legroom for a pair of 6-footers. Cabin furnishings are best-in-class, and thanks to Audi’s logically designed Multi Media Interface (MMI), accessing the car’s numerous audio, climate and navigation functions is as simple as it gets in the luxury-car world.
The A8 undoubtedly lacks the snob appeal of its fellow Germans, but don’t let that stop you. With its roomy, best-in-class cabin and excellent driving dynamics, this sedan shines as one of the strongest picks in its segment. This fact is evidenced by its multiple “Editors’ Most Wanted” wins over the years.
As redesigns go, Audi’s 2004 overhaul of the A8 is likely one of the most successful on record. Relative to its predecessor, this generation offers a lighter chassis and a more muscular V8, along with lots of comfort, safety and suspension upgrades. If you’re shopping for a used A8 from this era, keep in mind that the car’s W12 power plant wasn’t available until 2005. Additionally, you’ll want to remember that the A8 got a new V8 in 2007, upping horsepower on these models from 335 to the current 350.

Its comfort features include 7 arm dynamic styling like sport saloon, CD changer in the glove box, DSP sound system with 6 channel amplifier, 10 loudspeakers, adaptive light, deluxe automatic air conditioning, electrically adjustable front seats, multi media interface (MMI) infotainment system, radio operated remote control, multitronic gear system etc. Safety features that are available distinctly in this model are acoustic parking system (APS) front and rear, eletromechanical parking brake, automatic rain and light sensor system, pyrotechnic front seat belts, central locking system, serotronic power assistance etc.
The A6 competes effectively in the luxury sedan class with a premium interior fit and finish, confident and smooth performance, good fuel economy, and plenty of space for families and cargo. The A6 also comes in a wagon trim and the high-powered S6 version. If you’re in the market for a luxury large sedan, you should also consider the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Lexus GS.
The 2008 Audi A6, Audi’s mid-sized sedan, is praised for its solid performance, elegant interior cabin, striking exterior and authoritative acceleration. It may be an ideal large luxury sedan for the driver who wants sporty dynamics with all-wheel drive and taut handling, without sacrificing space to cart the kids and lots of cargo. With a sleek exterior, the A6 demands attention, gliding through lane changes and passing its competitors.
