In addition to regular MBA offered with different electives in DMS-SOM, Pondicherry Univesity also offers MBA: Tourism at its Department of Toursim Studies under the same School of Management and MBA: Banking Technology (UGC sponsored programme under its 10th Plan innovative/interdisciplinary funding scheme) by the Department of Banking Technology. These two MBA programmes are categorised as specialisation MBA programmes in our Campus. In addition the university offers four different MBA programmes in Distance Edcuation mode.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The 135-acre campus of the Institute has a cluster of Administrative and Faculty Office Blocks, fully equipped classrooms, seminar and conference rooms, Management Center for Human Values, residential quarters for students, faculty and staff members, library, an executive training complex, a bank and a post office. The 750-seat state-of-the-art Auditorium is the latest addition to the campus. The institute is located in its own sprawling 135 acres campus in Joka, away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis.

The campus has four hostels that provide single room accommodation to students with modern amenities and recreation facilities. All the hostels have their own coffee shops, canteens, photocopy units and printer rooms. Every room has its own network connection, which enables fast and round-the-clock Internet access. The hostels also have intercom facility in all the wings. For the visitors, the institute provides guest-rooms. To take care of the married students’ needs, the institute has provided separate accommodation facilities for them.

The institute has always attached special importance to the use of information technology by the academic community. The institute deploys a network of around 1000 PCs, 4 digital Alpha servers, one IBM RS-6000 server and seven Novell file servers. Through a 2MBPS and 64 KBPS radio link with VSNL users get unlimited access to the Internet. A host of electronic databases like Bloomberg, Prowess and Capitalize providing information on the global and Indian corporate world are also accessible likewise. The institute’s Bidhan Chandra Roy library was started initially with a liberal Ford foundation grant, and over the last 36 years has grown into a major learning resource center in South Asia.

Placement

The most sought after companies in sectors like Consulting, Financial Services and IT made quite a number of offers at IIM Calcutta. IIM Calcutta proved to be the hunting ground for top notch consulting companies with firms like McKinsey and Company, The Boston Consulting Group and AT Kearney looking to recruit in large numbers. One of the noteworthy aspects of Placements at IIMC is the increase in number of sectors for which students were recruited. Companies in sectors such as Insurance, BPO, Shipping and Holiday Services made their presence felt on campus in 2007. An important aspect of placements in 2007 was the phenomenal success of the Lateral Placement Programme meant for students with significant work experience. Despite a much smaller pool of candidates with work experience as compared to the previous year, there was an increase in both the number of recruiters and the number of offers made. This year, companies participating in the Laterals Programme also recruited for positions abroad. IIM Calcutta encourages and nurtures independent thinking and the ability to explore unconventional avenues. As in the past, this year as well, there were students who chose the entrepreneurial path over the relatively easier corporate route to success. The Institute undertakes a diverse range of academic activities aimed at creation, dissemination, and application of management knowledge and practice.

Situated at the outskirts of the historic and culturally rich city of Lucknow, the Indian Institute of

Management (IIML), was established in 1984, by the Government of India, as a national level school of excellence in management science.

The campus is spread over an area of 185 acres and is beautifully landscaped. The campus has a well-equipped library, a modern computer centre, an automated programme office, class room block having 950 seats, twelve furnished hostels with single-seater bachelor accommodation for 495 students. A medical centre, guest house, a sports complex for indoor games and residential buildings and community centre and all lecture halls of PGP block are air-conditioned.

The Institute has state-of-the-art computing and class-room facilities, supported by an extensive library of books, journals, films, and databases. IIML academic programmes are fully residential. The serene and pollution free campus is well equipped to meet all the essential requirements of its residents. The residential programme has separate hostels for girls & boys. The Computer Center is housed in a spacious 15,000 sq. ft., two storied, air-conditioned, centrally located and functionally designed building and is equipped with the state-of-the-art computing resources to cater to the needs of the academic as well as the administrative activities of the Institute. The IT infrastructure at IIML Computer Center includes a fibre optic backbone based campus-wide network connecting machines on heterogeneous platforms with several servers. All computers in the institute are connected to the Internet through VSNL. All students are provided an email account & sufficient storage space on joining the institute and round-the-clock access to the internet. Stocking a rich collection of over 60,000 select learning resources in the discipline of management and related areas, in a variety of formats and operating from a 30,000 sq. ft. spacious, centrally located, air-conditioned building, built on most modern lines, equipped with ergonomically designed furniture & fittings, the library caters to the information needs of its highly demanding clientele, by offering a wide range of Information Technology (IT) based (and value added) services and products.

The Placement Office at IIM Lucknow makes every effort to match student career aspirations with the human resource requirement of organizations. The Institute has been continuously maintaining its track record of 100% placement for its students in the best of the companies in the country and abroad. Apart from sales and marketing, placements saw sectors like finance, IT and consultancy. The Indian Institute of Management Kolkata (IIM Calcutta) is located on Main DH Road, Joka, Kolkata. The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) was established as the first national institute for Post-Graduate studies and Research in Management by the Government of India in November 1961 in collaboration with Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Government of West Bengal, The Ford Foundation and Indian industry. In the due course of time, IIM-C has grown into a mature institution with global reputation and imparting high quality management education. It has been playing a leading role in professionalising Indian management through its Post Graduate and Doctoral level programs, Executive Training Programs, Research and Consulting Activities. Today, the institute serves as an autonomous body.

Facilities at the XLRI campus include 59 flats for faculty and staff, an air-conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 1500, a spacious air-conditioned library, residential
facilities for 250 students and another 100 more rooms are being added to cater to the needs of the growing students community. The Institute’s MDP Residence can accommodate 110 executive par ticipants who come for the Management Development Programmes.

The two-year Postgraduate Programme in PM & IR, two-year Postgraduate Programme in Business Management and the three-year Executive Postgraduate Programme are recognized by the Association of Indian Universities and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICT E) of the Government of India. XLRI has been cited in the National Education Policy document as an institution imparting higher education. The AICTE has recognized the Fellow Programme in Management as equivalent to a Ph.D in Management. Since XLRI is an autonomous Institute not affiliated to any university, it does not grant degrees. The Alumni of XLRI are accepted for admission to doctoral programmes in India as well as abroad.

XLRI has the distinction of having a faculty team that blends academic rigor with rich industrial experience. The pedagogy adopted for learning will consist of a mix of advanced conceptual inputs in the form of lectures, group discussions, case studies, simulation exercises and bus iness games. All these will be geared towards helping students learn how to analyze the problems of real life situations and apply those processes wherever applicable. Besides the core courses, the electives students choose, assignments, projects in teams, deliberation on ethical and moral issues, are all designed to complement each other in such a way that they will not only help harness ersonal strengths and potentials to become an effective manager of tomorrow but they will also enhance knowledge with integrity.

The accommodation consists of 10 hostel blocks, one executive block and the executive accommodation at the management development center. All the students are provided with accommodation on campus in well-appointed single room in the institute hostels. IIMB has one of the finest computing environments among management institutions in the country. Operating round the clock, with a large number of desktops (more than 450 PCs), world-class servers and a campus wide network with access to Internet, it represents the major attraction of IIMB. The campus network links the computing resources in the faculty offices, student labs, administrative units, student hostels, management development center and the faculty residences as well.

Three classrooms with about 30 desktops and a projection facility in each room, and a Multimedia Laboratory are other attractions of IIMB. The library has a total collection of 2.02 lakhs documents (books, back volumes, government publications, technical reports, conference proceedings, microfilms, microfiche, CD-ROM databases, maps, etc.). The library subscribes 675 print journals and 730 e-journals. Apart from this, around 4000 Full text titles are available in the databases subscribed by the library. The library also has 150 newsletters, 2200 annual reports from public and private organisations.

Final Placements for graduating students started in late 2003 with 16 organizations making 31 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) to the graduating batch students based on their summer placement performance in these organizations in 2003. HSBC Investment Bank UK, Lehman Brothers USA, Simulex, USA, KSA Technopak, Siemens and Marutiare some of th erecruiters. There were a total of 356 offers in 2008 (232 last year) from the 101 participating organisations (68 last year) for the 209 post-graduate and doctoral students (169 last year) that were placed through campus placement. Four students opted to create new enterprises or to join their family business.

INFRASTRUCTURE

IIMI is Situated in a most picturesque surrounding. The campus is situated about 16 kms from the city, on a beautiful hillock in Rau. The Post-Graduate Programme is fully residential and all the PGP participants are required to stay in the Hostel unless exempted from this condition in special cases by the PGP Chairperson. PGP hostels are exclusive to IIMI. Single-seater accommodation in the men’s hostel is available about 100 metres from the classroom and office complex. A separate women’s hostel is available in the Women’s Polytechnic complex, adjacent to IIM’s main building. Rooms in both hostels have direct computer connectivity to the main LAN. Dedicated mess facilities and basic medical and entertainment facilities are available. All participants are furnished with single room accommodation.

The new campus of the institute, with modern facilities, is located near the village of Rau on a hill, measuring about 195 acres of land.

Library at the institute is a fully electronic library with state-of-the-art technological applications. The fast growing collection includes around 15,000 books on management and allied subjects. The current subscription to periodicals includes 340 foreign journals and 80 Indian journals. Other collections include 160 training videos and 150 CDs.

IIMI has world class, campus wide state-of-the-art information technology tools that are designed to meet the computing and communication needs of the Institute. It has fast, reliable and rugged computer network of more than 700 nodes.

The biggest recruiter was Infosys Technologies followed by first timers IBM India, Cap Gemini E&Y, Maruti Udyog and regular recruiters like Wipro, Pepsi and ICICI Bank.
