The Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIMI) is the latest addition to the IIM community established by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
INFRASTRUCTURE
IIMI is Situated in a most picturesque surrounding. The campus is situated about 16 kms from the city, on a beautiful hillock in Rau. The Post-Graduate Programme is fully residential and all the PGP participants are required to stay in the Hostel unless exempted from this condition in special cases by the PGP Chairperson. PGP hostels are exclusive to IIMI. Single-seater accommodation in the men’s hostel is available about 100 metres from the classroom and office complex. A separate women’s hostel is available in the Women’s Polytechnic complex, adjacent to IIM’s main building. Rooms in both hostels have direct computer connectivity to the main LAN. Dedicated mess facilities and basic medical and entertainment facilities are available. All participants are furnished with single room accommodation.
The new campus of the institute, with modern facilities, is located near the village of Rau on a hill, measuring about 195 acres of land.
Library at the institute is a fully electronic library with state-of-the-art technological applications. The fast growing collection includes around 15,000 books on management and allied subjects. The current subscription to periodicals includes 340 foreign journals and 80 Indian journals. Other collections include 160 training videos and 150 CDs.
IIMI has world class, campus wide state-of-the-art information technology tools that are designed to meet the computing and communication needs of the Institute. It has fast, reliable and rugged computer network of more than 700 nodes.
The biggest recruiter was Infosys Technologies followed by first timers IBM India, Cap Gemini E&Y, Maruti Udyog and regular recruiters like Wipro, Pepsi and ICICI Bank.
Admission to the post graduate programme is through a three stage process where different abilities of the candidate are assessed. The IIM’s conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) for the assessment of the Quantitative, Analytical, Verbal, Logical and comprehension skills. Upon clearing this stage the candidate is further tested for his/her attitude and aptitude for management education through Group Discussions (Stage 2) and Interviews (Stage 3). Admission is dependent upon various other parameters which keep changing in different years. A good score in CAT would mean a good chance for an admission as the written test is given the maximum weightage among all three stages. A three year’s bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the AICTE / AIU.
