XLRI has a spacious campus. It is located in the steel city of Jamshedpur with the scenic setting of the Dalma Hills in the North and the Tata Iron and Steel Company in the South. The Jubilee Park adjacent to the Institute provides beautiful scenery, fresh air and a healthy environment.
Facilities at the XLRI campus include 59 flats for faculty and staff, an air-conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 1500, a spacious air-conditioned library, residential
facilities for 250 students and another 100 more rooms are being added to cater to the needs of the growing students community. The Institute’s MDP Residence can accommodate 110 executive par ticipants who come for the Management Development Programmes.
The two-year Postgraduate Programme in PM & IR, two-year Postgraduate Programme in Business Management and the three-year Executive Postgraduate Programme are recognized by the Association of Indian Universities and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICT E) of the Government of India. XLRI has been cited in the National Education Policy document as an institution imparting higher education. The AICTE has recognized the Fellow Programme in Management as equivalent to a Ph.D in Management. Since XLRI is an autonomous Institute not affiliated to any university, it does not grant degrees. The Alumni of XLRI are accepted for admission to doctoral programmes in India as well as abroad.
XLRI has the distinction of having a faculty team that blends academic rigor with rich industrial experience. The pedagogy adopted for learning will consist of a mix of advanced conceptual inputs in the form of lectures, group discussions, case studies, simulation exercises and bus iness games. All these will be geared towards helping students learn how to analyze the problems of real life situations and apply those processes wherever applicable. Besides the core courses, the electives students choose, assignments, projects in teams, deliberation on ethical and moral issues, are all designed to complement each other in such a way that they will not only help harness ersonal strengths and potentials to become an effective manager of tomorrow but they will also enhance knowledge with integrity.
